Not Long Ago...

Business owners knew with absolute certainty how many people visited their website, where that traffic came from, what pages they visited, and how long they stayed. SEO, (while verbally clunky and repetitive) provided a good snapshot of virtual traffic. Armed with that data, business owners could plan, add new services with confidence, and make informed decisions about future growth.

And then AI came onto the scene, with all the subtlety of an acid rock band at a library. AI didn't care about SEO. Doesn't even use it. AI looks for one thing: answers. As of December 2025, AI searches only for recent answers. History and longevity of a business don't really matter to AI. And so the slugfest began. We are all waiting to see who wins this battle - SEO or AI. But it will probably be a mix of both. And that brings us to...

Today's Reality

Fact: Both SEO and AI are here to stay. They work together. They look for entirely different things. They don't send potential customers to your business website anymore. Instead, they grab pieces of content from your website to present to users. Yes, the bots and AI are keeping your valuable traffic! Social media platforms are doing the same thing. Facebook, Linked In, Instagram, Pinterest, etc., have put strategies in place to keep visitors on their platforms. They block the ability of long-time users to drive traffic to their website via link. They, too, want to keep your valuable traffic.

So, What's A Business Owner To Do?

There are steps you can take to keep your website from falling into the "Invisibility Well" on the web. There are also new ways to gain visibility through Social media, video, and written content that will attract eyes of both SEO and AI. Has the game changed? Yes. Overnight.
Do you feel overwhelmed? Most likely. The vast majority of business owners we work with are overwhelmed and confused.
